Saturated fats and trans fats may increase the levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in the bloodstream. This LDL can form deposits in the walls of the blood vessels, which can stiffen them and reduce the flow of blood through them. If an area of the brain does not receive adequate blood flow, the cells will not get an optimal supply of oxygen and glucose to function well.
