Signs and symptoms associated with inadequate kidney function are directly related to the kidney's inability to perform the normal homeostatic control functions. Advanced impairment of kidney function results in edema, metabolic acidosis, hyperkalemia, anemia, uremia, azotemia, hyperphosphatemia, oliguria, hypertension, and bone and mineral disorders.
