Answer to Question 2

Blood pressure is the measure of resistance of blood flow against the walls of the arterial vessels and is measured using a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer.
The sphygmomanometer is inflated to a pressure greater than arterial pressure during systole, completely obstructing blood flow.
As pressure is released from the sphygmomanometer, blood pressure falls to the systolic pressure, resulting in the first sound heard through the stethoscope.
When this sound (a distinct beat) first disappears, this is the diastolic pressure.
Units of pressure are usually in millimeters of mercury (mmHg).
