Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

For mothers, breast-feeding provides physical, emotional, and financial benefits. Breast-feeding can help with pregnancy recovery and reduces the risks of premenopausal breast cancer and ovarian cancer, of hip fractures later in life, and of type 2 diabetes. Breast milk is also less expensive and more convenient than formula, and it promotes bonding with infants. For infants, breast-feeding provides antibody- and carotenoid-rich colostrum followed by an easily digested food (breast milk) that continues to change to match their nutritional needs. Further, breast-feeding may provide protection against diarrhea and other intestinal disorders, respiratory infections, meningitis, ear infections, and urinary tract infections; reduce the risk of childhood obesity; help the development of the child's immune system; and help with the child's intellectual development.
