One reason may be the increase in the consumption of soft drinks instead of milk. Another reason may be concern over skin cancer; childhood exposure to sunlight appears to increase the risk of skin cancer, but exposure to sunlight is also a way self-synthesis of vitamin D can occur. A last factor may be that air pollution reduces ultraviolet rays of the sun by as much as 60 percent.
