Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
Geological uplift can expose carbonate rock to chemical reactions with oxygen. Acid rain on limestone
rock can release carbon dioxide. Lastly, sediments can also dissolve which would release the carbon
dioxide that is stored in it. Information can be found in the section Gases Dissolve in Seawater.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Oil molecules are nonpolar. Nonpolar molecules are not attracted to water molecules so the bond
strength found in oil is not diminished as it is with polar molecules. Information can be found in the
section Water Is a Powerful Solvent.

Though “Krazy Glue” or “Super Glue” has the ability to seal small wounds, it is not recommended for this purpose since it contains many substances that should not enter the body through the skin, and may be harmful.

Did you know?

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.

Did you know?

Nearly all drugs pass into human breast milk. How often a drug is taken influences the amount of drug that will pass into the milk. Medications taken 30 to 60 minutes before breastfeeding are likely to be at peak blood levels when the baby is nursing.

Did you know?

Many of the drugs used by neuroscientists are derived from toxic plants and venomous animals (such as snakes, spiders, snails, and puffer fish).

Did you know?

Drugs are in development that may cure asthma and hay fever once and for all. They target leukotrienes, which are known to cause tightening of the air passages in the lungs and increase mucus productions in nasal passages.
