Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
The precise track of movement can be determined by using buoy arrangements. Drift bottles and cards
are very useful in determining coastal circulation patterns. Information can be found in the section
Studying Currents

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
The Southern Hemisphere gyre deflects to the left. In the Northern Hemisphere, the gyre is deflected
to the right. The currents are then blocked by continents which allow them to move in a circular flow.
Information can be found in the section Surface Currents Are Driven by the Winds.
