Significantly criticized by privacy advocates, the constitutionality of these warrants has been upheld by the Supreme Court as early as 1979 . No-knock warrants are legal authorizations issued by a judicial officer that grants law enforcement permission to enter premises without first notifying the occupants or owners. Such warrants are issued only in cases in which there exists a risk of harm to evidence, officers, or the community. Examples will vary.
