Answer to Question 1

Radio-frequency identification tracking devices (RFID): Both inmates and correctional officers now wear for tracking purposes (discussed more later), combine to make prisons safer and require fewer correctional personnel for surveillance.
Telemedicine: An onsite prison physician or nurse assists with the physical part of the examination, taking cues from the offsite specialist via video and relaying information such as electrocardiogram and blood pressure data .

Answer to Question 2

BYOD avoids the need to train employees in their use, enabling employees to use the devices that they are already comfortable in using. Added benefits include that BYOD can result in officers spending more time on the streets and less time in the office, giving them greater access to resources and communication when in the field.
