The person must be able to respect and genuinely like themselves, admit error and failure and start again, accept constructive criticism, and be self-supportive rather than self-destructive.

Many feel that a divorce is a means to an end in their marriage problems. Seldom does the person contemplating divorce anticipate the pain and upheaval that divorce leaves in its wake. Seldom do they consider that divorce is usually not the end of the relationship and its problems, especially if children are involved.
