Answer to Question 1

The human relationships standard refers to the interactions between children and staff. These interactions should be positive and appropriate to the needs of the children. This includes being sensitive to each childs interests, abilities, culture, and home language. Interactions should help children to make choices, become responsible, learn skills to be successful, and resolve conflicts.

Answer to Question 2

NSACA intended to develop a process whereby centers could use the guidelines to improve quality even if programs did not apply for accreditation.
