ANSWER: Adults use words to show affection for and interest in children. Adults listen carefully to what children have to say. Adults talk courteously to children. Adults make sure to talk with children spontaneously and often. Adults do not label children or talk about them within their hearing. Adults remain silent long enough to let children gather their thoughts. Adults give children many opportunities to talk to one another. Adults respond positively to childrens humor. Adults use words to express themselves and help children solve problems. Adults praise children in ways that are sincere and constructive.
