Answer to Question 1

There has been an increase in the consumption of foods that are higher in sugar such as sweetened beverages and fruit juices and a decrease in the consumption of milk, breads, and vegetables. Children have been found to be lacking in certain vitamins and minerals that help maintain healthy bodies, and there has been an increase in obesity in this country.

Answer to Question 2

Any five of these: Aim for a healthy weight, exercise at least 60 minutes all or most of the days of the week, meet energy intakes listed in MyPlate Food Guidance system, consume a verity of nutrient-dense foods, and choose and consume sufficient amounts of fruits and vegetables. Children two to eight years of age should drink 2 cups of low-fat milk. They should consume at least 50 of grains as whole grains, keep total fat intake between 20 and3  of calories with most being from polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, make lean or fat-free choices of protein, and choose fiber-rich foods often.
