Teachers need to develop a plan for addressing bullying prior to working in the classroom so that they are prepared to deal with harassment. The Gay and Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) provides suggestions for strategies that can be used at schools to support and encourage LGBTQ students. Briefly discuss two strategies that garnered positive results when implemented in schools.

ANSWER: Answers will vary, but should include GLSEN strategies that brought positive results when implemented in schools (such as establishing a Gay-Straight Alliance collaboration club, having an LGBTQ curriculum with history and positive role models, instituting school policies against bullying due to sexual orientation and gender identity, and training teachers and staff in prejudice reduction strategies).
