Adults should express their feelings to children when those feelings are sincere but not overpowering. Powerful or intense adult emotions such as anger and sarcasm are rarely helpful. Simple, clear statements of feelings are most helpful. I messages are very helpful for stating feelings appropriately in a nonthreatening way.
