Authentic Assessment

Student Activity. You will administer the Philosophic Inventory (found at the back of chapter 4 in your text), to five people–specifically, to classroom teachers and/or parents of school-age children. Assist them in determining their "scores," which will illustrate their philosophical beliefs. Following the administration of the inventory, either singly or in a group, discuss the findings with the people involved. Then, you are to prepare a four-page paper in which you detail the inventory participants and their roles in the educational system, the findings of each of the inventories, and the conclusions you draw from this experience. Be sure to address any differences between the responses of parents and the responses of teachers.
