Tour operators must make arrangements with suppliers, and brochures describing the exact itinerary must be printed and distributed long in advance of the actual travel date. Consequently, they are vulnerable to adverse changes in currency values, air and ground schedule changes, and also the possibility that a supplier will not be in business when the promised product must be available.

The Americas need more tourism industry coordination because several nations in the Caribbean and Central America are heavily dependent on tourism especially from the United States and Canada. Tourists would be more interested in visiting destinations in the Americas if the product offerings and travel regulations were better coordinated.
