Conventions are large periodic gatherings of affiliated groups representing professional or trade associations, labor unions, or political organizations. Exhibitions involve displays of goods and services offered by many companies at a single location. The annual hotel and restaurant show usually held at the Javits Center in New York in October brings together industry buyers and suppliers where new products are displayed in a succession of booths.
