Answer 1

False

Answer 2

Most students will recognize that women played some role, though better students will put their activities in the context of a total war. Women were pressed into service as heads of households. They managed farms or businesses that were vital for war production. They worked in clerical capacities in the absence of men. Some served as nurses, spies, couriers, etc. The case of Lyons Wakeman represents an unusual example of women's participation in the war effort.
