You and your partner have just had a baby. The doctor mentions that your newborn has neonatal jaundice. Your partner seems worried. What do you do?
◦ Reassure my partner that about 50 percent of babies have jaundice and it usually disappears after a few days of simple treatment with a blue light.
◦ Prepare myself for a lifetime of special care for my child. Babies with jaundice need a lot of extra attention, especially in the first 3 years of life.
◦ Reassure my partner that about 50 percent of babies have jaundice and it usually disappears after a few days of simple treatment with a yellow light.
◦ Explain to my partner that this just means that our baby has a more mature liver than the average newborn.
