The most common treatment for this disorder is stimulant drugs; between 80 and 90 of all children diagnosed with ADHD are treated with these drugs. The drugs do seem to have positive effects, especially in the short-term. They tend to have their greatest effect within 2 to 4 hours after the drug is taken.
