Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

The sympathetic nervous system responds when a threat is perceived. Heart rate increases, supplying more blood to muscles, and respiration increases, bringing more oxygen to blood and brain. Digestion slows and pupils dilate. The parasympathetic nervous system returns the body to a normal resting state by decreasing heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration. Digestive activity begins again as the system returns to normal. The fight-or-flight reaction has been described as an alarm to danger.
