Answer to Question 1

Social identification, which is the psychological vehicle through which I is translated into us, can allow people to feel they have control in stressful situations that might otherwise be absent. Indeed, being part of a group allows us to achieve goals that we could not possibly accomplish alone. Perceiving we have control over and are able to influence events that happen to us is strongly predictive of well-being and reduces biological stress reactions. Identifying with one's community might provide people with a sense of control over their way of life and through this achieve greater life satisfaction.

Answer to Question 2

One important means of managing stress and improving both mental and physical health in adults is regular physical exercise. Yet maintaining the motivation to participate in regular exercise is a major obstacle to attaining those benefits. The role of social support, in terms of accessing and connecting with others in our social networks, may be crucial to achieving adherence to an exercise regime. To benefit from exercising with others, people don't need to be face-to-face due to technological innovations. Technology such as Fitbit and other activity trackers may serve the same social purposes to keep people motivated and improving to the extent they increase or continue exercising
