Answer to Question 1

In the broadest sense, public relations (or PR) involves the ongoing effort to create positive relationships with all of a firm's different publics, including customers, employees, suppliers, the community, the general public, and the government. But in a more focused sense, PR aims to generate positive publicity, or unpaid stories in the media that create a favorable impression about a company or its products.
Personal selling-the world's oldest form of promotion-is person-to-person presentation of products to potential buyers. But successful selling typically begins long before the actual presentation and ends long afterward. In today's competitive environment, selling means building relationships on a long-term basis.
