Vietnamese cuisine, perhaps like no other, puts emphasis on fresh herbs. There are
many interesting ones which are not common elsewhere. One of those is ngo om,
also known as rice paddy herb. It is native to Southeast Asia, and, as its name
implies, flourishes in the areas where rice grows. The flavor and smell are like
cumin and citrus. It is used in soups, curries, or stir-fries.
