Intensive coverage calls for distributing the product through the largest number of different types of intermediaries and the largest number of individual intermediaries of each type. Selective coverage entails choosing a number intermediaries for each are to be penetrated. Exclusive coverage involves only one entity in a market. Generally, intensive and selective coverage call for longer channels using different types of intermediaries, usually wholesalers and agents. Exclusive distribution is conducive to more direct sales.
