Selective coverage entails choosing a number intermediaries for each are to be penetrated. Exclusive coverage involves only one entity in a market. Generally, intensive and selective coverage call for longer channels using different types of intermediaries, usually wholesalers and agents. Exclusive distribution is conducive to more direct sales.
