While saturated fats do raise levels of bad LDL cholesterol, they also increase levels of good HDL cholesterol, and lowers triglycerides. Refined carbohydrates cause blood sugar to increase, along with insulin and triglycerides, which raises the risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
