Proper actions include projecting calmness, focusing your attention on the other person to let him or her know that you are interested in what he or she has to say, and establishing ground rules if unreasonable behavior persists. Do not reject all of the person's demands from the start, do not make sudden movements that can be perceived as threatening, and do not challenge, threaten, or dare the individual.
