Reye's syndrome starts out as a mild viral infection followed by the sudden onset of vomiting and impaired consciousness leading to delirium and coma.

Principle: insertion of a catheter with either a bare metal stent or a drug-releasing stent to dilate areas of narrowing in the coronary arteries; disadvantage: prone to restenosis even with the drug-releasing stent and may require redilatation
