Most symptoms found in acute leukemia are related to the pancytopenia that is usually present. Fatigue results from anemia, bleeding and easy bruising from thrombocytopenia, and fever from the neutropenia and infection.

The most common leukemia in this age group is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
