Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 3
Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation. Primary amenorrhea is the absence of menarche by age 16, or by age 14 if secondary sex characteristics fail to develop. It is premature refer the patient for a gynecological exam or for testing for a hormonal imbalance.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1, 2, 5
Oral contraceptives can be used to regulate uterine bleeding in women when the bleeding is anovulatory. Progesterone also may be prescribed to regulate uterine bleeding. Oral iron supplements may be prescribed to replace iron lost through menstrual bleeding. Therapeutic D&C would not be an initial therapy for this condition. Endometrial ablation would destroy the patient's fertility.
