The purpose of preventive medicine service codes is to report services provided to a patient who is presenting for a well visit or a physical examination that includes routine checkups, annual gynecologic examinations, or other examinations whose focus is promoting health.

Answer to Question 2

Code 99238 is used to report hospital discharge day management that is 30 minutes or less. Code 99239 is used to report hospital discharge day management that is more than 30 minutes.
