Answer to Question 1

C
Hyperventilation is common during contractions, especially strong ones. This causes hypercapnia leading to dizziness. This is treated by a rebreathing mask. Hypertension and hypertonic contractions are abnormal occurrence after contractions. Hypotension can occur, but is usually related to supine positioning.

Answer to Question 2

4
Rationale:
1. Flat soles and prominent fat pads are not an indication for hip dysplasia.
2. A positive Babinski's reflex and flat soles are normal findings for 2-week- to 1-month-old infants.
3. Metatarsus varus is an in-toeing of the feet that usually occurs secondary to intrauterine positioning and frequently resolves on its own. It can be an indication of a talipes (clubfoot) condition, and does not necessarily mean the infant has developmental dysplasia of the hip.
4. Asymmetric thigh and gluteal folds are positive findings for developmental dysplasia of the hip requiring follow-up with x-rays.
