Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
A pH lower than 7.35 indicates acidosis. If the child's pH falls in the same line as the HCO3-, the problem is metabolic

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Small oral feedings of glucose water are given after recovery from anesthesia. Feedings are gradually increased to larger amounts of regular formula.
