Answer to Question 1

Although the concept has been around for some time, the fourth-party logistics (4PL) provider is becoming more evident in the business world. Essentially a supply chain integrator, a 4PL may be thought of as a firm that assembles and manages the resources, capabilities, and technology of its own organization with those of complementary service providers to deliver a comprehensive supply chain solution.. Some of the types of services that may be provided by a 4PL include managing multiple 3PLs (lead logistics provider), taking on more risk than 3PLs, providing advanced IT services, providing strategic consultancy, and control tower services.

Answer to Question 2
