 In today's economy, employees have less loyalty to an organization and are quite willing to move to another organization to advance their careers.
 There is a shortage of skilled workers in the labor pool.
 Skilled and knowledgeable employees are becoming ever more important in the quest for high-quality goods and services in a competitive marketplace.
 To be effective, organizations need to become more flexible. Employees who are able to do more than just one job on a moment's notice give the organization a lot more flexibility.
