Answer to Question 1

C
Motivation is the driving force behind compliance with any prescribed or individually developed health promotion program. An elderly patient often cites time of day, access, and illness as obstacles to following through with a health promotion activity (responses A and B). These become less important, however, if the older adult has identified an incentive or motivator. Simple recognition of a problem does not provide incentive or motivation to participate in a health promotion program.

Answer to Question 2

C
It is possible for individuals to boost their immune system through lifestyle changes that include rest, exercise, decreased stress, decreased smoking, decreased alcohol usage, adequate nutrition, and hydration. Dehydration, fluid restriction, and alcohol usage all place stress on the body, taxing the immune system.
