Check cans for bulges and dents.
Check sell by dates.
Choose grade A eggs.
Buy frozen foods last at the grocery store.
Check cleanliness of meat and fish counters.

Never taste any food that smells off..
Put perishable food in the refrigerator as quickly as possible following purchase.
Rinse all fruits and vegetables.
Keep the kitchen clean.
Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
