The enhanced greenhouse effect is warming of the Earth's surface that occurs as a direct result of human activities that include burning fossil fuels, land clearing, and industrial pollution. These activities release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, trapping more of the sun's radiation (heat) than is normal and intensifying the warming effect.

Answer to Question 2

include one or more of the following:
1. Increasing vehicle parking fees
2. Increasing the number of bike lanes and monitoring bike garages
3. Initiating bike to work days
4. Implementing initiatives to encourage students and staff to reduce, reuse, and recycle
5. Supporting the use of produce grown in campus gardens and locally grown and organic foods in campus dining halls
6. Implementing energy-saving lighting and heating and air-conditioning units
7. Divesting funds from fossil fuel companies and investing in green technology firms
