Answer to Question 1

Answer: One of the liver's jobs is to break down toxic substances in the blood, including alcohol and other drugs. The liver metabolizes alcohol before the medication, and so the risk with alcohol is that the medication will travel intact to the bloodstream. This can lead to unintentional concentration of the medication in essence, an overdose.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Moderate drinking can reduce a person's risk for heart disease, temporarily reduce stress, and help a person relax socially.
