The goal of hospice care is palliative care and not curative care. Hospice care provides comprehensive medical and supportive, social, emotional, and spiritual care to terminally ill patients and their families.

Durable medical equipment includes equipment that is used by a patient and includes canes, crutches, IV supplies, hospital beds, ostomy supplies, oxygen, prostheses, walkers, and wheelchairs.
