Answer to Question 1

Dental hygienists usually complete two years of special training at a college before becoming eligible to take state board examinations for licensure. They are licensed to perform some of the same procedures that dentists perform. The hygienist performs oral and dental exams, cleans teeth, polishes teeth, and applies fluoride and sealants under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed dentist.
Dental assistants may receive formal training at a technical college or may be trained by dentists. The dental assistant's primary role is to assist the dentist in the treatment of patients. The assistant serves as the dentist's second pair of hands by handing instruments to the dentist and holding those instruments in position in the patient's mouth.

Answer to Question 2

dental implants for missing teeth, orthodontics to straighten teeth, veneers to cover stained teeth, and tooth whitening
