Answer to Question 1

The health information professional in a rehabilitation setting may manage traditional types of services related to the creation, development, storage, and retrieval of the patient record and patient information, and, as in other settings, play a significant role in obtaining and maintaining accreditation of the rehabilitation facility

In addition, the health information manager may assist in selecting or developing appropriate forms to track patient outcomes and may work with others to develop and implement quality improvement programs. The health information manager may monitor rates of complications, early discharges, or failures to improve, and present findings that can help target processes for improvement.

Answer to Question 2

to ensure that third-party payers do not shift the responsibility for payment of medical services to Medicare by negotiating a legal settlement that fails to adequately cover future medical services and rehabilitation
