The HIM consultant assists administration in establishing policies and procedures addressing the maintenance, preservation, completion of confidentiality of medical records, and the release of information. The consultant also trains personnel involved in keeping the medical record. The major function of the consultant involves quality management in the review and auditing of the facility records.
