Answer to Question 1

A
Feedback:
Reye's syndrome is an acute and potentially fatal childhood disease. Its etiology is unknown; however, in most cases, it follows a viral illness. Reye's syndrome also has been related to aspirin use during a viral illness. If the bones in the fetal skull do not close correctly, a portion of the brain may herniate (protrude) through the opening. This condition is known as encephalocele. Spina bifida is a malformation in which a part of the vertebral or spinal column (usually the lower spine) is open or missing. Spinal fluid, which circulates constantly, encloses the CNS. If this circulation is disrupted, spinal fluid collects, causing head swelling and brain damage. This condition is called hydrocephalus.
