Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Occasionally, despite excellent antepartal care, a fetus or newborn dies. Obviously, such an event is very difficult for family members. The nurse should provide them with as much support as possible and give them a chance to express their feelings. They may appreciate a visit from a chaplain or social worker, but the nurse should ask if the family wishes to have someone special called. Some facilities prepare a small package of mementos from the baby, such as the tee shirt worn in the nursery, a lock of hair, some photos, an identification bracelet, and the birth certificate. Such articles are given to the mother for her to open or to keep sealed as she chooses. In this way, the baby's existence is acknowledged, along with the loss.
