Rationale: When positioning a specific digit, position the part closest to the image receptor and keep the part parallel to the image receptor allowing the central ray to intersect perpendicular to the part. For the 4th digit, from the pronated hand position, roll the hand away from midline or laterally to keep the digit closer to the image receptor.
