Answer to Question 1

Ropes should be checked often for wear, breakage, or fraying. Failure to do so could result in
rope breakage during restraint and subsequent injury to the patient or personnel.

Answer to Question 2

A lariat is a rope with a loop (hondo) built into one end so that the free end of the rope can be
passed through it, forming a slip loop that may be thrown around the animal's head or feet.
