Hydrating gels are synthetic acrylic copolymers granules that absorb more than 100 times their weight in water. Their purpose is to improve the water-holding capacity of the medium.

Leach the medium by flushing the medium with water to dissolve away the excess fertilizer. Throw out the leaching water.
